Bathroom Blinds, Shades and Shutters

Bathroom blinds for privacy

What To Consider In A Bathroom

When selecting window treatments for a bathroom, consider the following:

  • Do you have a lot of humidity in your bathroom? If yes, selecting moisture-resistant window coverings is a good idea.
  • What are your needs for privacy, can your neighbors see in? If yes, consider shades that provide privacy but also let in natural light.
  • Does your bathroom get heated up from the sun? If yes, consider energy efficient cellular shades or shutters.

The best bathroom window coverings combine just the right amount of function and style.

Window Coverings That Resist Moisture

For bathrooms that get very humid, look for window coverings made of moisture resistant materials:

Palm Beach™ Polysatin™ Shutters are made with a UV-resistant polysatin compound that prevents them from warping, cracking, fading, chipping, peeling or discoloring over time, even in high-humidity. These shutters can cover any window shape, from arches and angles to hexagons.

EverWood® Alternative Wood Blinds have the look of genuine hardwood, but they’re actually guaranteed never to fade, yellow, warp or bow, even in areas with high heat or humidity.

Shades That Add Softness or A Bit of Nature

If moisture is less of a concern, you may want to consider fabric shades for your bathroom:

The fabric of Sonnette™ Cellular Roller Shades can soften the look of ceramic or porcelain, and if your bathroom has a lot of whites or neutrals, they can add a splash of color.

Provenance® Woven Wood Shades are made from natural fibers such as bamboo, grasses, and reeds. They add a peaceful ambiance to your bathroom so you can enjoy a relaxing soak at the end of the day.

Shades that provide flexible privacy and light control

Many of our shades come with Top-Down / Bottom-Up functionality, which lets you open your shades from the top or from the bottom - or anywhere in-between. That way you can enjoy plenty of privacy when you want it but still bring in natural light.

Shades that come with Top-Down/Bottom-Up functionality include:

  • Duette® Honeycomb Shades
  • Vignette® Modern Roman Shades
  • Provenance® Woven Wood Shades

Consider automation for hard to reach shades

For windows in hard to reach places, such as over the bathtub, you might want to use automated shades, which also offer the convenience of “set it and forget it.”

Many of our Hunter Douglas window coverings come with PowerView® Automation. The PowerView app allows you to create customized ‘Scenes’ that move your bathroom blinds or shades to the positions you want. Then you can schedule those Scenes to operate on their own, throughout the day. How convenient is that!

Solutions for Large bathroom windows

Luminette® Privacy Sheers are a great choice for large bathroom windows. When the vanes are open, the sheer fabric filters the light and illuminates the room. When the vanes are closed, the opaque fabric provides the privacy of a drapery.
